2030 Climate Neutrality Investment Plan: An Ambitious Step for Athens

Regional Association of Municipalities of the Peloponnese
Observatory for Sustainable Development
The Regional Association of Municipalities of the Peloponnese, with the support and guidance of PlanBe, has successfully completed the creation of the Model Observatory for Sustainable Development.
This innovative tool is designed to monitor, evaluate, and strengthen the progress of Peloponnesian municipalities in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations.
Goals and Functions of the Observatory
Establishing Common Indicators: Developing a unified framework of indicators, based on international standards, to track the municipalities' progress.
Policy Cohesion: Aligning municipal policies and actions with the SDGs, fostering coordinated and comprehensive interventions.
Governance Enhancement: Adopting collaborative leadership methods, strengthening citizen engagement, and improving transparency in decision-making.
Climate Change Adaptation: Supporting the region in implementing effective adaptation policies, in line with the National Climate Law.

Municipality of Agios Dimitrios
The 2nd Voluntary Local Review (VLR) in Greece
Agios Dimitrios becomes only the second Municipality in Greece to publish a VLR, marking a pioneering milestone in the country's journey towards sustainability.
The Municipality responded to the call of the United Nations (UN) and becomes the second municipality in the country to undertake a Voluntary Local Review (VLR) of its actions for the period 2020-2021. With the publication of the VLR, the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios aligns its policies with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, measuring its performance, and publishing quantitative and qualitative data. In this way, the municipality remains committed to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations and the Agenda 2030, making a dynamic entry onto the global stage, following the example of pioneering cities such as New York, Helsinki, and Barcelona. Concurrently, the Municipality gains a strong passport for inclusion in European, National, and Regional Funding Programs.

Sustainable Development Report 2020-2021
The biennial report for the years 2020 and 2021 of the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios aims to highlight the municipality's contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This report has been prepared based on the international GRI standards and serves as a comprehensive overview of the progress and initiatives taken towards fulfilling the SDGs. From reducing carbon emissions to promoting social justice and protecting biodiversity, the report showcases the multifaceted efforts and successes achieved. Through detailed data and examples, the report provides a holistic picture of Agios Dimitrios's commitment to achieving a sustainable future, encouraging further dialogue and collaboration to reach our common goals.

The 1st Voluntary Local Review (VLR) in Greece
The first VLR in Greece designs and presents the “Skiathos 2030”, consisting of the vision, mission and strategy of the Municipality of Skiathos, using the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to describe how the Municipal Authority sees life in Skiathos in 2030 and at the same time how it will meet today’s global challenges for a better and sustainable future for everyone.
The Municipality of Skiathos, as the pioneer in the commitment to SDGs in Greece, is the 1st Greek Municipality and the 21st at European level, which has a strategy in line with the UN Agenda 2030, in order to lead to the promotion and the enhancement of local sustainable development.

The WiFi4EU initiative promotes free access to Wi-Fi connectivity for citizens in public spaces. The municipality of Skiathos chose to equip with a Wi-Fi Spot its main port and is now proudly offering high-speed free Wi-Fi access to citizens and tourists. Working together with our partner Cisco, we delivered in less than a month.
