New Funding Invitation to 17 Municipalities for the "Smart Cities" Program

The Information Society S.A., in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Government, published the invitation to submit proposals for the "Smart Cities" program, with a total budget of 90 million euros. This program is part of the Greece 2.0 - National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

It includes 16 Municipalities with a population more than 100,000 inhabitants plus the Municipality of Trikala. More specifically, the invitation calls the following Municipalities:

1. Athens

2. Thessaloniki

3. Patra

4. Heraklion

5. Piraeus

6. Larissa

7. Volos

8. Peristeri

9. Rhodes

10. Ioannina

11. Chania

12. Acharnes

13. Nikaia - Ag. Ioannis Rentis

14. Chalkida

15. Kordelio - Evosmos

16. Kallithea

17. Trikala

According to the proposal submission guide that sent to them by the Information Society S.A., the Municipalities are invited within the next two months (until Friday 25/2/2022 at 17:00) to submit a "Smart City" strategic plan.

All the "Smart City" strategic plans will be evaluated based on their compatibility with the Greece 2.0 - National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Then the Municipalities will be invited within two (2) months period to submit technical data sheets and relevant documents.

The main goal of this project is the development and deployment of new technologies that will improve the management of the urban areas in Greece. This intervention also aims to transform Greek cities to "Smart Cities" through the development of new infrastructure, digital platforms and information systems.

For the remaining 315 Municipalities, a new invitation will be published within the first quarter of 2022 with a budget of 230 million euros.

Furthermore, PlanBe has successfully submitted applications for funding in relevant funding programs, such as AT08 Invitation of the "A. Tritsis" Program.
