The new C40 Mayors Agenda for a Green & Recovery, describes important steps to achieve a fair and sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and was drafted by C40 network mayors around the world - including the Mayor of Athens. The agenda focuses on creating green jobs, investing and upgrading public services and infrastructure, decentralization, creating "green" spaces. Athens: "A historic city, with rich culture and incredible heritage, a great city, not only for its past but even more, for its present and future, we need to shield it with the following goals as a priority:

• To liberate public space with a high level of infrastructure so that citizens can gather, create and strengthen social ties.

• Improve accessibility in Athens and provide high quality transport with an emphasis on walking and cycling. We seek sustainable and equitable mobility for all and not just drivers.

• To keep the city viable for its permanent residents and at the same time attractive for new residents. To change, without altering our soul, turning the city into a "Disneyland" for tourists. In this direction, we have started the effort to unify the archeological sites, but at the same time emphasizing the so-called small walks in the neighborhoods, in order to ensure that they will remain alive for both businessmen and residents. In addition, we create pocket parks and green islands in all the apartments of the city "
